My drawings explore similar themes of movement, figuration and form as my collage work, but with a more physical immediacy. They are an homage to skeletal, sinewy and voluptuous forms in nature, rendered with a dirty freedom. They are equally about the act of becoming/collapsing; a liminal state or frozen moment of the birth, growth or destruction of a thing or idea. In a way, these could be seen as the active, hidden structures that flesh out the interiors of the collages, or the soul/energy within. They are "objects" that are as akin to studies for sculptures as they are manifestations of my interest in graffiti and traditional Japanese calligraphy.
